Be kind rewind

1. Casting; Do the actors suit the roles that they were cast in? Are they believable as part of the reality they are in?
a. Jack Black as Jerry Gerber
b. Mos Def as Mike
c. Danny Glover as Elroy Fletcher

Jack black playing the role of Jerry Gerber suited him since i know him from another movie and he seemed to be the type of guy that is crazy so this is a good role for him.

I never saw Mos Def in other movies but his role was played very well so i guess it was believable and good.

Danny Glover is a guy i have never seen in other movies but i thought he played well his role.

2. How does technology impact the community at the beginning of the film? At the end of this film?

Yes technology impacts a comunity and especially your shop because if you d not follow what comes next you may become out of business. Movies were now on cds and no more vhs so people would rather go with the new technology.

BP Oil ads

    1. Discuss and review the two BP Oil ads. Why does BP Oil choose the images/style it does to use in their ads? What is the target audience(s)? Which images stick in your mind and why?

    1. In light of the current disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, is BP’s slogan (Beyond Petroleum) and Logo (the flower) appropriate?

    1. Consider responsibility; considering that it was BP’s oil rig that burned in the Gulf of Mexico and the resulting oil spilled would have been BP’s profit, do BP and other oil companies deserve to be ridiculed, made fun of, and/or satirized?

    1. The target adience would be teenagers soince they are the first ones who gets their liscence and start driving. Once having a car they need to fill it up with gas every so often and this is target to them for their benifit and the good of the environment.
2. I do not see anything wrong and why would there be anything that would cause a problem due to the disaster in mexico.

3. The oil spill just caused a problem which led to an oil spill. It does not mean that BP and other companies should be ridiculed or made fun of. i do not think it will change or make anything better.

Media appreciation

1. Find “something” new that we’ll see in the future
I Think in many many years from now with the evolution of cars, maybe a flying car. There are already flying airplanes, so maybe flying cars would be a good idea.
2. What is the immediate use for the maker’s product?
The immediate use would be that its going to bring money and it will be bought. Something that is worth to make.
3. What impact will this product have on us, the users,and/or the world?
Flying cars may come to a certain price but can help those get out of the traffic by flyign up and over it to get faster to their desired destination. The impact on people would get them to escape the long time wasting ride due to traffic.

Buffalo Bill

1. Give at least 3 examples (with details) where the lines between reality (history) and entertainment (media) became blurred during the life of William Cody (AKA Buffalo Bill).
I think that the line between history an media was blurred in his life because he did not think of a way that he could of used media for communication.

2.What reasons do we have to call Buffalo Bill the “original world celebrity”? Explain.
Buffalo Bill is called the ''original world celebrity" because he was being a hero and was on a show that most would watch.

3.How could Buffalo Bill have benefited from new media? Who would have been some of his Facebook friends?
Buffalo Bill could of benefited from the new media since he could contact his friends or loved ones to know what is going on and not have to wonder what is happening if anything. His friends on facebook would be Texas Jack, Ned Butline, Nate Salsbury and Sinibulet

Ted Talks David Perry

Where do you place yourself or your peers in video game culture? Why?
For myself, i stand sorta far as we speak of video games because i do not play so much video games. I am not as much of a video game person though with friends can be fun. If i look at the others, video games are very much played as it is entertaining for them and fun. It catches their interests and they play more and more.

What do you see in the future for our culture and the impact video games will have on that future?
In my opinion, video games will have a strong impact on the people because video games keep evolving to become better and have something new that will attract and get people interest.

Discuss one thing (quote, statistic, etc.) from David Perry's talk that you found interesting.
The video that was shown of how video games have evolved through time. I did remember when i was younger to have played some of those games and yes video games have changed a lot. Video games changed through out time and look more and more like real life. graphics get better and the games are better too.

Websites review

Good website: www.disney.go.com
This is a good website. This website has an attractive layout. This makes you feel calm and also gives you a look as if you are in the sky. The idea of a fantasy. It is interactive and entertaining. You want to click on a label to go to that specific page, a little picture over the label turns into colours as you put your mouse over the word of the page you want to click on. It is everything to grab your attention to be on this website.

Bad website: www.asimplewebsite.com
This website is really boring. There is not much to it to grab your attention. It is nothing entertaining or nothing happens on this website. The layout is not creative, original or unique, so it is not eye catching and interesting. This website is just plain white as the background and it is very simple. This website has few colours, but it is mainly white. The only thing i could say that is good about thai website is that it is so simply that it makes it super easy to know what to do or where everything is as there is not much on the website.

1.Have we reached this point in our entertainment "experience"?
The biggest thing out there would be the media. Cameras are now everywhere. Schools, shopping malls, streets..
I think we are being watched just as Truman was in the movie, but not as a whole life process. Yes were being watched to a point, but we are not watched every single place we go. Camera play a big role where we could be watched from so many places at once. Example: a celebrity would be walking outside and someone would be watching them through a camera and having them air on television or internet. The celebrity would be watched. I think how Truman was watched is like how celebrities are watched, but not in as much details as Truman.

2.Is Truman's whole world fake or is it real? Is what Christof says true or is he justifying the world that he created?
Truman is living in a world where what is happening is just showing the real world in a fake way. What is real is out there outside of the world he is living in. It is as if he has the experience of a real world, while everything is fake inside the world he is living in. Truman never realized that the world he lived in was just a make up and not real. It was all just pretend. His world was justified as Christof was telling him what was happening when he was in this world. I do not think what Christof was saying was true, but was justifying the fact about Truman being in this fake world.
