Be kind rewind

1. Casting; Do the actors suit the roles that they were cast in? Are they believable as part of the reality they are in?
a. Jack Black as Jerry Gerber
b. Mos Def as Mike
c. Danny Glover as Elroy Fletcher

Jack black playing the role of Jerry Gerber suited him since i know him from another movie and he seemed to be the type of guy that is crazy so this is a good role for him.

I never saw Mos Def in other movies but his role was played very well so i guess it was believable and good.

Danny Glover is a guy i have never seen in other movies but i thought he played well his role.

2. How does technology impact the community at the beginning of the film? At the end of this film?

Yes technology impacts a comunity and especially your shop because if you d not follow what comes next you may become out of business. Movies were now on cds and no more vhs so people would rather go with the new technology.

BP Oil ads

    1. Discuss and review the two BP Oil ads. Why does BP Oil choose the images/style it does to use in their ads? What is the target audience(s)? Which images stick in your mind and why?

    1. In light of the current disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, is BP’s slogan (Beyond Petroleum) and Logo (the flower) appropriate?

    1. Consider responsibility; considering that it was BP’s oil rig that burned in the Gulf of Mexico and the resulting oil spilled would have been BP’s profit, do BP and other oil companies deserve to be ridiculed, made fun of, and/or satirized?

    1. The target adience would be teenagers soince they are the first ones who gets their liscence and start driving. Once having a car they need to fill it up with gas every so often and this is target to them for their benifit and the good of the environment.
2. I do not see anything wrong and why would there be anything that would cause a problem due to the disaster in mexico.

3. The oil spill just caused a problem which led to an oil spill. It does not mean that BP and other companies should be ridiculed or made fun of. i do not think it will change or make anything better.

Media appreciation

1. Find “something” new that we’ll see in the future
I Think in many many years from now with the evolution of cars, maybe a flying car. There are already flying airplanes, so maybe flying cars would be a good idea.
2. What is the immediate use for the maker’s product?
The immediate use would be that its going to bring money and it will be bought. Something that is worth to make.
3. What impact will this product have on us, the users,and/or the world?
Flying cars may come to a certain price but can help those get out of the traffic by flyign up and over it to get faster to their desired destination. The impact on people would get them to escape the long time wasting ride due to traffic.

Buffalo Bill

1. Give at least 3 examples (with details) where the lines between reality (history) and entertainment (media) became blurred during the life of William Cody (AKA Buffalo Bill).
I think that the line between history an media was blurred in his life because he did not think of a way that he could of used media for communication.

2.What reasons do we have to call Buffalo Bill the “original world celebrity”? Explain.
Buffalo Bill is called the ''original world celebrity" because he was being a hero and was on a show that most would watch.

3.How could Buffalo Bill have benefited from new media? Who would have been some of his Facebook friends?
Buffalo Bill could of benefited from the new media since he could contact his friends or loved ones to know what is going on and not have to wonder what is happening if anything. His friends on facebook would be Texas Jack, Ned Butline, Nate Salsbury and Sinibulet

Ted Talks David Perry

Where do you place yourself or your peers in video game culture? Why?
For myself, i stand sorta far as we speak of video games because i do not play so much video games. I am not as much of a video game person though with friends can be fun. If i look at the others, video games are very much played as it is entertaining for them and fun. It catches their interests and they play more and more.

What do you see in the future for our culture and the impact video games will have on that future?
In my opinion, video games will have a strong impact on the people because video games keep evolving to become better and have something new that will attract and get people interest.

Discuss one thing (quote, statistic, etc.) from David Perry's talk that you found interesting.
The video that was shown of how video games have evolved through time. I did remember when i was younger to have played some of those games and yes video games have changed a lot. Video games changed through out time and look more and more like real life. graphics get better and the games are better too.

Websites review

Good website: www.disney.go.com
This is a good website. This website has an attractive layout. This makes you feel calm and also gives you a look as if you are in the sky. The idea of a fantasy. It is interactive and entertaining. You want to click on a label to go to that specific page, a little picture over the label turns into colours as you put your mouse over the word of the page you want to click on. It is everything to grab your attention to be on this website.

Bad website: www.asimplewebsite.com
This website is really boring. There is not much to it to grab your attention. It is nothing entertaining or nothing happens on this website. The layout is not creative, original or unique, so it is not eye catching and interesting. This website is just plain white as the background and it is very simple. This website has few colours, but it is mainly white. The only thing i could say that is good about thai website is that it is so simply that it makes it super easy to know what to do or where everything is as there is not much on the website.

1.Have we reached this point in our entertainment "experience"?
The biggest thing out there would be the media. Cameras are now everywhere. Schools, shopping malls, streets..
I think we are being watched just as Truman was in the movie, but not as a whole life process. Yes were being watched to a point, but we are not watched every single place we go. Camera play a big role where we could be watched from so many places at once. Example: a celebrity would be walking outside and someone would be watching them through a camera and having them air on television or internet. The celebrity would be watched. I think how Truman was watched is like how celebrities are watched, but not in as much details as Truman.

2.Is Truman's whole world fake or is it real? Is what Christof says true or is he justifying the world that he created?
Truman is living in a world where what is happening is just showing the real world in a fake way. What is real is out there outside of the world he is living in. It is as if he has the experience of a real world, while everything is fake inside the world he is living in. Truman never realized that the world he lived in was just a make up and not real. It was all just pretend. His world was justified as Christof was telling him what was happening when he was in this world. I do not think what Christof was saying was true, but was justifying the fact about Truman being in this fake world.

You Can Party On, But No Tweets

What is the power of social media? (dangers and benefits)

Social media has a a lot of power as it affects or get to lots of people. Social media is all about how the media is sent to us. By mail or myspace, twitter. Its a form of way to communicate through different websites to get across to you about the social media. Social media is a lot about things like gossip were the latest news are out about the people such as celebrities and the latest things that happen or that they have done. For example; if a celebrity like madonna would mess up on a song and it would go live or on air on the radio, the media would pass this news across to everyone and would be spread out to different websites like twitter, facebook or any other.. This is a means to communicated the latest news on everything.. This can also lead to gossip and rumours that is passed on by someone to many other people. People can also post picture of previous things that happen and have people being tagged. For example, in the text it says; a 26 year old women living in Manhattan said she dreaded being tagged in photos because people might notice she always wears one or two outfits when going out at night, a basic black dress or for dates, a lynyrd sky-nyrd T-shirt. This is a reason why social media affects people. It tends to make problems or have people care about what other say about that specific person on the picture. Social media can come out strong and can just simply come out in a way that people will comment have you care for their say about you. You have to sometimes learn to ignore the social media that happens because then it will affect you in a strong way and take alot of place in your life.

Video Doc response

  • Was there a point where you felt you were overwhelmed and felt like your "image" wasn't enough.
My image is only projected by what other people say. Of course i do have a say on what i think of myself and yes sometimes i believe that my image isn't perfect. For example: being skinny is one thing i believe i am not exactly. A lot of people would say i am skinny and yes maybe i am but to my image i don't think i am totally there yet.

  • Is the line blurred between what is "Sexy" and the image that you have (or are building) of yourself?
Sexy is just a figure of speech to describe how people look in a more discriminate way or just to add more to beautiful. No, sexy is not blurred between sexy and the image of myself.

  • Whose role is it to set "limits"?
Setting limits is up to our own self. If we don't set limits and people realize we should like a close friend or something, they should tell us too.

What advise would you give to a 4 year old about start her "social life", by going to school next year?

For a 4 year old kid, i'd tell them to socialize with people. Don't be afraid to be yourself when you talk to people and if they don't like you, don't change yourself to fit in or be what the person wants you to be. Just be you. Make friends by talking to different people.

Do we truly make our own decisions?

I believe that decision making is linked with life. As i believe life is created for us our decisions are not actually made by us. If life is created for us, every decision we make has been already made for us, though we still choose to decide on the choices we have. We have choices to make simply to choose a path on our own, but behind all of this, decisions do not truly come from us. We make decisions just because it is part of the life that has been created for us since the beginning of our lives. We do ask ourselves if we truly make decisions, but do you actually make them? It all depends in what you believe because some people could say that the decisions we make are totally from our own self and we choose on what to decide. i personally believe that our decisions are not from us, but created for us.

truth & trust

In my own opinion and thought, we build information on what we know. For example, if we see something we come up with the information based on the thing or whatever it is. This information becomes the truth when it is shown with real facts. Of course it is an issue to believe what is said about the source and to trust it because we don't know where this information comes from. I think this information is to be trusted when it is proven of some kind that this happen and it proves when too. You need more then just some facts to believe that the information is true and to trust it.

This is a picture showing someone who is into books. My intensions on putting this picture is to show how people stereotype these types of people as nerds or bookworm. These people are just like us. You may be right that they like to read books, but does that make them a nerd for that? Think about it. Its very interesting to see how people can stereotypes these types of people like this. As you can see, it is someone who is very much into books. Think about this, if this was you, would you like to be labeled and stereotyped?
